The past couple years we have seen a progression in moody, saturated colors both on walls and in cabinetry. This trend has continued into furnishings and decor as well. A newer term associated with this is color blocking- though the colors aren't always moody in every case. Essentially this is using 'blocks' of color- either the same or a selected palette in the overall design: it can be limited to a wall or incorporating furnishings along with it and even the doors and ceiling. We are also seeing a continuation of painting crown and ceilings to match a saturated walls for a drenched, dramatic effect. All of these kinds of rooms make bold, beautiful statements.
We have searched out some eye candy to share in current color trends that we are loving right now. Greens aren't going anywhere as far as we are concerned and hot on the heels of it are a surge of gorgeous hues from the purple family; maroons, plums and wines. Another color that has been making waves the last couple of years is orange, particularly the earthy terra cotta version of it. All of these colors can live quite happily with fall decor, or any time for that matter.

We selected these rooms not only because we find them to be inspirational on a color level, but also because they are well executed, timeless spaces. Now it's your turn. Which colors are you seeing and which do you want to see more of? Let us know in the comments!
